Mena, 1 kWh a day = 80 Ah. This is what 9-10 cu.ft frig draws, and his is 18 cu.ft. Ouch.
With this fridge, and microwave, and other loads - would be difficult boondocking longer than one-two days without running a propane generator. In theory, 800W system might collect enough when it's sunny, and 8*6V would run when it's not, but there won't be enough time to push all this energy into the batteries (when it's sunny). So the batteries will remain undercharged, which will shorten its life, unless they run a generator for some time, now and then. I think all they want is reducing the generator time. Any solar panel will "reduce" it, won't it...
