Just for reference, such an animal can't exist. Unlike compressed gasses (scuba, welding) where the pressure falls constantly during use, propane in the tank is a liquid that vaporizes at just below 110psi (@70deg). When you open the valve, the gas escapes, the pressure drops, more liquid propane evaporates, and so on. This continues until the tank is empty. It also means that the non-liquid space (gaseous propane) in the tank stays at approximately 110psi until ALL the liquid is used up, which is just minutes away from flame out.

Search the homebrew forums. You can make a much nicer kegerator much cheaper than the store bought ones. I have a full size that holds 6 five gallon kegs. Unfortunately, it's not in the HTT. 5L kegs would work well in the camper refer;



Another thing people often forget is that beer does not have to be stored cold (just not hot), you can chill it right before you serve it. This lends itself to camping because you can just build a jockey box like this;

That exact same idea popped into my head as I walked through the Home Depot today. I saw this keg fridge!!!

I assume there are some camping enthusiasts who enjoy a few cold beers while at the trailer park. So heres my idea , remove one propane tank and replace it with a beer keg/ dispenser. !! lol. When at the campfire you wont have to constantly go into the trailer and let mosquitos in. Or you cound install one inside and put a tap somewhere on the outside, maybe next to outside shower. I guarantee you will be the most popular rednecks in the campground !!

TV mount(s) were off e bay or amazon, I cant remember which, but they didn't cost much. No wall anchors, I put one mount inside and one outside ran bolts through both and "sandwiched" the wall.

Not wanting to nit pick or criticize, but would you post a picture of the plate outside. Curious to see how distracting it would be on mine should I attempt that.

1st post here. Been lurking for a while and made a lot of the mods posted here. Thanks.

I like many was/is/am looking for more outside storage space.

I saw this post and thought it was a good idea.

So I built a similiar box out of 3/4" plywood taking advantage of every inch LxWxH.

The box did bounce inside the hitch receiver but to combat that, I used 2x4s cut to size under the rear corners in between the box and the bumber. No more bounce. Nice and solid.

Filled the box and all good right? Wrong!

The trailer immediately started to sway unbelieveably, the scary kind of swaying!

I installed an anti sway bar but that did not eliminate the sway.

I took my trailer to the local RV dealership to have the hitch set up checked out (thought the ball might be too high) but it didnt take them a minute to tell me the box had un balanced the whole trailer and that I had hardly any weight on the tongue, which will make the triler swing.

So for now, the box sits in my garage until I can figure this thing out safely.

I just wanted to let eveyone to know about what happened to me so that they are safe.

Also when you consider the fact that the rack slides into the receivers, there will be some slop that will allow the rack to bounce more than if the rack was welded to the bumper. If some support bars were added from the trailing edge of the rack to somewhere near the latches on the bunk end, it would be dramatically stronger and safer.

I agree with PenMan. The installation was beautiful no doubt, and the photos were great -- kudos to the OP. I like how the bed neatly clears the top of the tool box. But I hate to throw cold water on this, and am only saying this in the interest of safety.

I too am an engineer (still practising) and like PenMan, I would not follow this trailer down the road - period! The toolbox frame as well as the spare tire rack are both trying to pry the bumper off its longitudinal supports, and typically, these hybrids don't have significant frame-support to their bumpers -- that is the weak point. Even then, the bumpers are thin-walled tube so the welds to the bumpers are small. Last, the load is not static but dynamic so the issue would be low-cycle fatigue overstressing these light welds, which would most likely not be devoid of stress raisers.
