US EV Sales Hit All-Time High In Q4 2021: Tesla Leads w/72% Share
Shoppers on our shores bought 21% fewer cars in Q4 2021 year-over-year, though they bought 72% more electric cars.
However, arguably most important, of the ~148,000 EVs sold in the States in Q4 2021, Tesla delivered a whopping 72% of them. We've already published several reports about how Tesla is successfully navigating the chip shortage, and we even heard that the Biden Administration would welcome his guidance related to how other automakers can follow suit.
KBB says the Tesla Model Y was the leader of the pack in the US in Q4 2021, with a total of 63,386 deliveries. While the number doesn't quite account for half of all US EV sales during the quarter, it's knocking on the door.
Kelley Blue Book also reminds us that General Motors delivered 1 GMC Hummer EV in Q4 2021. Meanwhile, electric vehicle startup Rivian delivered 575 R1T electric pickup trucks during the same three-month period. KBB anticipates higher EV sales numbers for Q1 2022.
InsideEVs- GM’s EV1 & EV2 were shipping in the mid 90’s. Honda was shipping their’s during the same timeframe
Drove the first Tesla ‘production unit’ during lunch break when Tesla’s were basically a Lotus with an electric conversion kit. That lot used to be a GM dealership in Menlo Park by the Stanford shopping mall.
Hamburger lunch at the Oasis (famous Silicon Valley & Stanford University dive) and crossed El Camino Real to check out & test drive that Tesla. Tusk wasn’t involved yet, or that is what remember.

GM reported 26 electric vehicles sold in the US for the 4th Quarter.
GM sold over 6 million vehicles in 2021.
How many EVs did Tesla sell in US? Maybe more than GM maybe less. GM is transparent in providing vehicle level reporting by countries or regions. Tesla will not identify the models or the countries or regions. But Van bought in on the hype.8.1 Van wrote:

Get a Nikola if you don't want to wait for the Tesla Semi.:RHere is some drone footage of Giga Nevada. All 4 Tesla Semi Megachargers have been fully installed at Giga Nevada and are ready for action! These Megacharger's will be able to charge at a rate of up to 1.5MW. Towards the end of the video is the first ever public drone footage of the Tesla Semi Factory (that I'm aware of) where the Semi is currently in limited production. The Tesla Semi factory is about 2 miles up the road from the main Giga Nevada building. Next to the Semi factory is a Tesla Warehouse.
