Finally installed my stable load bumpers yesterday. 3 were really easy, 1 was not so much. Had a mud flap bracket in the way of getting any leverage to pry off the stock bump stop. It had a winters worth of road******caked on it, along with several coats of undercoating and paint (I pressure wash my frame and undercarriage every 1-2 years and put a fresh coat of corrosion eating paint followed by rubberized undercoating and then flat black paint).
I eventually got about have of it cut off with a knife, and was able to pry the rest off. Without the mud flap bracket it would have been a 5 minute install. Instead, it took me about 40 minutes.
I then cleaned out the bed, attached the various torklift brackets and superhitch truss system and loaded the camper. Off the slope I had stored it on all winter....Which did not go smoothly. Thank God AF puts diamond plate along the sides of their campers. I'm going to have some painting and patching to do when I off load it though. It came off the truck there just fine, but going back on just didn't work. There was a lesson to be learned from that though...
level the truck on blocks, then lower the camper. Thought of it after I had it loaded crooked and scraped up.... as soon as it was supported in the bed, I hauled it to a flat spot and re-loaded.
Its on there. I don't think its coming off again until June now. I'm not sure if I'll drop it for the week we aren't camping on Oregon or not...
