? on unlevel slide out use

One of our favorite campgrounds doesn't have full hookup, so when we depart we use their dump station. Now, there dump station isn't very level, would sliding my slide out just enough to get into my bathroom hurt anything?

I typically level up at the site or at home before I slide it out, but I do not think I can on their dump station.

Any con's of sliding out your slide out while you are connected and not level?

Our next rig will have the ability of me entering into the bathroom with the slide all the way in...
  • My slide labors badly when it's leaning, I avoid putting it through that kind of strain.
  • I have a clear 90 degree adaptor and find it amazing on what comes out. My wife is in the rig with the wand and I am outside opening and closing the value to see what comes out.. lol Kinda of sick if you think about it....
  • He may simply be looking into the tank to see how clean it is. That's what I do every time. I also use the toilet pedal to fill the tank up before opening the dump valve. He could also have his display monitor panel in the bathroom like we do. If our monitor doesn't read empty, that also means it's not clean enough. I would say these are pretty much impossible to do without getting into the bathroom.

I fill our tank up, dump, use our OEM in-tank rinser about 5 minutes, re-fill the tank and dump again. I repeat one or two more times and get the tank spotless every time now. LOTS of water works wonders. A to-do project on my list is to add a shut-off valve behind the toilet so I can look down into the tank without having to go outside to shut the CG faucet off. When we head home, the tank is fully empty and fully clean and ready for the next trip out.

Opening the slide a bit wouldn't be a problem but not sure if on a slope.
  • I prefer to use the toilet wand as I am dumping, it is amazing what comes out when you are rinsing out with the wand.
  • I'm wondering also....possibly the OP is using the wand for rinsing?? If it's just a matter of adding water and black tank treatment, suggest you just pull forward to a more level spot, open the slide just enough to get through and finish the job. Or, if you're close to home, add when you get home, although since I'm the chemical person, I prefer to add at the time we finish dumping just for the sloshing factor.
  • What is the need to have access to the bathroom for dumping? Please enlighten...
  • I've had my 12'x4' slide out when very unlevel and it was fine. But, all slides are not created equal.
  • I have the same issue, but why do you need bath access? Simply add more chemicals the next time you stop. If you use liquids, and have a black tank flush just make yourself self a short piece of hose you can pour them down.
  • I don't think so. I've even driven slowly with slides out.
