03 silverado dash cluster

Friend of mine has an 03 Silverado with 270 000 miles and his dash just started cutting out then he taps on the face of the plastic and it comes on. Sounds like a connection to me ??? anyone have any info or solutions?? time for new cluster ?? or clean and tighten connection ??
  • Do a search on Dieselplace.com.
    Very common problem I believe.

Low voltage will cause temp dash failure. I had a battery drain and ended up with dead gauge cluster. Upon recharging the batteries, all was OK.

Also there is a company in Concord Ontario (among others) that reman's dash clusters for a lot less than buying OEM. ddinstruments.com

Google gaugecluster and you'll see the '03 come up.

Good luck. I've been fighting a phantom electrical draw that is very inconsistent on my '03 GM Dmax.
  • Rebuilt gage clusters are redily a ailable on the internet. There are a couple of known problems with them. Just replace it.
  • I think I would try the tighten and clean before I paid big bucks for a new dash cluster. Have you priced a new cluster, will make your teeth fall out when you find out how much they are. I had one replaced in my '98 and glad it was under warranty.
