He should enjoy it, my 05 was great!! Although I upgraded the tranny (OEM was fine, but I added a wee bit more HP to it 517hp/1225ftlb of torque). Yes I replaced two tie rods, never touched the ball joints, had a 6" lift and ran mostly 35" tires on 20x10" rims, hauled goose neck trailers loaded with oilfield testing equipment through mud/snow/ice roads and pavement. Now the 2013 hauls my RV and once in a blue moon a goose neck, as a consultant I get others to most of the heavy hauling. :B
side note: that 05 I had as far as it being a ram was pretty solid no squeaks or rattles... in other words never had to turn the volume up on the stereo....
