1000 pound tongue weight: 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton???

Hi, I am looking at a new trailer that has a 1000 pound tongue weight (dry). Should I be looking at a 3/4 ton truck or will a newer 1/2 ton suffice? I know that some of the new Ford F-150s have pre...

Other than the hitch rating being a max of #1150 at best on an F150.. Don't matter if the trucks payload is #5000 (which of course there ain't no F150 or any other 1500 series truck with any payload at all... )..

The hitch rating is what it is.. Upgrade the hitch if you want, but it's still just a half ton.. And that comes a half ton owner!
