1/2 ton pickup + 6000 lb TT on 5000 mi western trip

I'm looking for those who have experience and insight with a setup similar to mine on a trip similar to mine. As shown in my sig, I have a 2011 F-150 SuperCrew, 5.0L V8 and tow a 6000-6200 lb trave...

Remember wasn't too many years ago, no one had 6-900 ft lb turbo diesels with built in exhaust brakes to tow with.
I've put a lot of towing miles on in the mtns with Ford gassers and the 5.0 with the 6 speed is about top of the heap for gasser trucks IMO.
Preference = big diesel
Necessity= good half ton will do it.
