Once I have a larger truck, I will also be running a large battery bank with inverter. Right now I have to keep heavy things in the trailer which will soon have a PowerArmor Max Solar installed on the tongue.
The 12V coffee maker does allow you to brew up coffee right in the cab of your truck. When you get spoiled hauling your TC around and and having all the comforts of home, this helps when you want that cup of coffee and the TC was left behind. - AnEv942NomadTried one many years ago, camping out of a 51 panel truck. Never got hot enough but killed the battery trying. After getting the truck jumped started put it in the cupboard, never tried again.
- powderman426ExplorerWe use coffee pods. Just throw a couple in a pan of water on the stove. Quick and easy.

I had the same experience with a 12v coffee maker. It took almost an hour and used a *lot* of power.
I borrowed one of these from my son. Used it only one trip, and as posted it would eat up the battery pretty quick.ajcal225 wrote:
Coleman has an excellent drip coffee pot that works on your stovetop, and its cheap.
Coleman stovetop drip
I have this coffee maker. It is made of plastic and tin, very bulky and difficult to store. I am always concerned with breaking the glass decanter when storing. It can be difficult to position over a burner. A little drama to keep clean, but not earth shattering. It is an attractive coffee maker and I think it makes good coffee.darsben wrote:
Find a nice old percolator for the top of the stove. If you cannot find an old percolator try KMART

I have this pot also. It does a great job, tough pretty easy to clean. Requires very little space to store.
I tries the French Press and did not like it. The coffee was okay, but I did not like the process.
Sometimes I will use the #2 filter metlita drip on top of the cup. It is okay, but not my first choice in flavor.
Although I do take a 4-cup 120-volt pot, this is my favorite Ozark Trail Stainless Steel 8-Cup Coffee Pot. Stainless steel, light weight, easy to store and wash. The pot has a very large bottom, making it very stable on the burner. I read the negative reviews, but my experience has been very different and I've have had none of the issues listed.
I can go with either pot, the Classic-8-cup-percolator or the Ozark-Trail. I prefer the Ozark-Trail due to its large base.
To avoid having to chew the grounds, I use the coffee filters like the Flat Bottom Coffee Filters, 12-Cup Size. I poke a hole in the center of the filter to go over the stem inside of the strainer basket. Put the coffee in the filter, fold (mash) the filter over the grounds. A few drops of water (after folded) will hold the filter in place. When it is time to clean the pot the coffee grounds easily dump out in the pouch.
Oh yea, did I mention I do not like (but have used) the 12-volt pot. Did not like it at all due the the amp hours it required.

Yes - this. Our camper French press is a thermal insulated type so it's durable and keeps contents hot for a while. Works great. - BoatycallExplorerInverter and a couple extra batteries? It's a multi-purpose solution. But... slightly more expensive than boiling water on the stove.
- WVbassmistressExplorerI purchased a small one ( maybe 6 cup) last year and even though it is a little slow, it served me well. Made the coffee taste better if I had to wait for it!!! Sometimes we overnight on the boat and it is the only option. I purchased it at a truck stop and it was much cheaper than I found on-line.
- DuctapeExplorerI used to carry a 12 drip machine in my hunting vehicle. Better than nothing, but slow as others have said.
