- BobsC3ExplorerWhat Mooky said is spot on. I have a 2010 6.2 and with premium gas, I can get 19 mpg solo. I pull a bassboat with mine but it is a powerhouse and pulls great. I've had 5.3's before and the 6.2 mileage is within 1 mpg and with the etra 88 hp and 82 lb ft of torque that's a trade off I'll take all day long. Premium is recommended but you don't have to run it. It does perform better though with the good stuff and mileage is better to.
- mooky_stinksExplorerI have a 12 6.2. They don't have any emblems or badges anymore. The older ones used to have a MaxTow emblem but they have done away with them. The only clue is what Gwolfe said, the rear exiting 3.5" tailpipe. It has 403hp and 417ft lbs. It gets the same mileage as my 09 5.3 (14 city 18 hwy) but has about 90 more HP. I actually ran mine at the track last year and after trying several different ways, I ran a best of 14.70 @ 96mph. Not too shabby for a bone stock 4WD truck.
- MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerI think they will all kick butt!! GM makes great engines I think!
- GWolfeExplorerI think on the current ones it will say Vortech Max on the side and will have a single tail pipe out the back under the bumper.
Can hardly wait to see what the new direct injected ones will do. - The_TexanExplorerWe love ours and yes, we are getting better mileage than we did with our 05 5.3L. It is easy to tell which engine it has, by looking at the exhaust. 5.3L is out the side behind the tire, 6.2L is straight out the back with a 3" deep throat exhaust. It is one towing beast and will break all tires loose if you romp on it, so you have to get used to 400+HP and the 420# torque. According to our dealer, it is going to be the replacement engine for the 6.0L in the 14 model year.
- MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerfor the 14s the 6.2 will be all new and direct injected from what I here. If power is high now wonder what the new design will put out !! I bet it will be very powerful! along with the 5.3.
- Gale_HawkinsExplorerAll I know is a few weeks ago a salesman told me his sharp customers claim on mid grade gas they are getting over 20 MPH. I am sure that was not towing. He said it was the one engine where the higher octane gave better MPG. It may be the GM V-8 of choice in gas engines based on what he was saying. They may be the higher margin option as far as I know. :B
