Looking at 2017 Silverado 1500, your opinion?

We currently have a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer EXT 5.3 V8, purchased new, currently with 210k miles. WE have towed first a Hybrid, and then our curent trailer. I have not weighed it in years, a d cant rdmember the exact weight, but I do rdmdmber we were just at the truck limit, fully loaded for a weeks vacation plus extra junk we were hauling to the inlaws. The truck has always done OK, but I have never towed with any other vehicle and I think I kept my expectations in line for wht I had.

It's time for a new truck. We looked at and drove several different brands. For sevreal reasons, we have decided on a Chevy Silverado 1500 with a 5.3L,2 wheel drive, Max Trailering Package (heavy suspension, different rear gearing, 12K tow rating, higher GVWR) and the trailering mirrors.

We planded to keep our current currnet camper for the next few years, and then go to a couples lout camper when the kids start College.
We are decided on a TT, not a 5er, for budget and other reasons. Most likely sething in the 7K/8k weight rangd, at most.

I am sure this truck would be a large improvement over our current vehicle, within budget, I would rather have more truck than I need, without go too far overboard. During most of the year we camp in FL, but head to the smoky mountains every summer.

I know we all have our preferred brand, and as I said, we have decided on the Chevy for many reasons. I'm looking for any feedback on this specific setup. Pros or cons.

The GM web site prices this build out at just under $45k after "MSRP" discounts. It looks like to get one like I want it, I am going to have to order it (same as I did with the current TB). For anyone in the industry or in the know, do you think it's realistic for my out the door price to land in the upper 30's, or am I delusional? The last brand new vehicle I purchased was the TB, and I worked a considerable below sticker discoumt at the time (and it was work finding a dealer willing to deal).

Thanks for any information you can offer.

I appoligize for any type-o's, I'm posting this from my phone.

Happy Camping.
