The original curved panels may have been kerfed, steamed, and bent over a mould, using laminates with grain orientation specific to the bending required.
A more expensive method also used was to laminate over the mould.
See if you can find a really old cabinetmaker. A lot of this work hasn't been done since the 50s in furniture and cabinetry, boating and RV industries among the last to use their skills.
