I all ways - tell first timers with no experience towing - first try a 24 foot T.T.,If you have the 1/2 ton now, use it. I have owned 35 foot T.T. and 35' 5th wheels, and down to 8' pop up. The bigger ones I used a 3/4 ton pick up. But have pulled 29 foot with a 1/2 ton, the weight of the 29 to 30 foot is the big factor. Many times we can pull more then we can stop. Don't get in over your head to start with, that would turn you again RV's for ever.Buy a lost cost 24' and try it first.Cross country will involve a lot of different terrain.Start with short trips of a couple hundred miles.I have been at it for over 50 years the states Mexico, Canada, Alaska, and worked as an RV wagon master.Good luck on your new adventure.
