@Passin Thru
That's a bit late for me. Was told by RV dealership that silverado 1500 4x4 5.8L can carry all the 30' TT they have in stock safely and without a problem. I knew I wasn't going to go beyond 30' because of the national park restrictions so I went for it. Trying to make the best of it from here on out.
@ssthrd
Thanks. Reading through those stickies right now

I plan on putting a few hours practicing before I head out to a few shorter trips. By March next year I hope to be ready for the crosscountry trip.
@westend
Thanks for being so thorough. Door sticker details:
Combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed: 768kg or 1692 lbs.
Tires: P265/65R18 Pressure: 240 kPa, 35PSI
@TenOC
Thanks for the tip. I wonder if either of those are the same as what @JnJnKatiebug was recommending

Plan on heading out in March in order to be able to take my time on the road. What we get to wonderful, what we don't there's always next year!
@vjstangelo
Thanks for the route advice, will take that into account when planning.

Only the old rig pics are showing up in your profile.
Below is the link to the best hitch I could find, is this the one you're talking about?

Thanks for the advice!
@rbpru
Thanks for the tip. Will make sure to add to my research state Parks and other electricity only campgrounds, probably for the second half of the trip after I've gotten accustomed to everything.
@campigloo@rbpru
I'll make sure to be on top of Gas and Tire Pressure during the trip and set aside a few gallons for emergency, thanks!
@2 Retired
It will be only the 2 of us for most of the trip though we plan on picking up a couple friends along for small portions of the trip.
Electric jack and power levelers added to the shopping list!
Oh you bet I will be asking questions, not driving that thing off the lot without feeling comfortable about being able to maintain and operate it.
Thank you for the warm wishes :)
@arkie guide
That's why I'm trying to be careful with the purchase of the TT. It seems that some folks here believe buying a specialty hitch might compensate for the close call so in an effort to preserve necessary convenience I will explore this option even if I end up with a shorter TT. Worse case I end up with a sturdier hitch that will lead to a safer and more stable ride.

Thanks for the tip on GPS. Will look into it as I think it is a very smart decision to invest in a good GPS.
