My F-150 will pull 9500 lbs with 1200 lbs of tongues weight. That is fine if I want to leave my wife, dog, camping gear and tools at home.
In my world, 800 lbs on the tongue is all I can put on my F-150 and still haul all my family and toys. That translates to a 5000 lbs. Dry weight TT with the gear and dog we take.
In the end the CAT scales are your friends, they give you your real numbers.
I guess we travel light. My Tahoe has a 7250 GVWR. Here is my before and ready to camp scale tickets with me in the vehicle. The only thing I add is wife (120#) wife's purse (57#) and dog (7#). Unless I am no good at math I am below my ratings.
