Just remember a breakdown with a camper hitched on back and all gear far far from home is the opposite of fun.
Reliability is the #1 factor to consider. It's great that a lot of bullet proofing has been done to the 6.0 X in question. However those mods all speak to the reliability of that engine.
The 6.0 is a known mess, why buy into it at this point. There are enough variables to deal with on any used vehicle with 180K on the clock, but one with patches, fixes and mods is particularly worrisome in my book.
If the engine self destructed tomorrow no one would be shocked simply because of the sordid history of the 6.0. Why gamble on a well known problem motor, there are other options.
Not when looking at a HD diesel SUV. the only options with Ford are an earlier 7.3 or a V-10. if you want the latest X with a diesel you have the 6.0L. I agree on the problems, but there are many, many people out there that, after bulletproofing, have no issues. For me the V-10 does just as well as a Powerstroke, minus the gas mileage. and even that isn`t all that bad!
