We walked away from the excursion yesterday, after my wife returned from having it inspected and sat with the diesel techs there for quite a bit, she didn't feel comfortable as most of you have said with the reliability . And if the wife isn't happy... No one is happy.
Started looking for any other gas excursions for sale near me and came up empty.
Well at least you made an informed decision based on the facts at hand...would be interested to hear more of the details of what the techs said that influenced your decision.
Lantley is right, HD SUVs that can tow a 10k TT are quickly disappearing....the X was last made in 2005, so even if the motor is perfect you are still dealing the quirks and annoyances of a 9 yr old vehicle. Even if the engine is stone cold reliable, a failed plastic sensor or radiator hose fitting can still leave you at the side of the road....or as they say

Kidding aside, I have going through this on the Suburban the past few years....brake lines, fuel pumps, leaky radiator, plastic heater hose connector that dumped coolant, water pump, etc etc. the engine is rock solid, it's everything that's bolted it to it that's cra**ing out LOL.
