Thanks...with the $5000 bulletproofing I'm thinking that ups the price a bit but I couldn't find a KBB value for a F-450 and the ones for sale were dump trucks or flat beds so not a great reference point.

Keep in mind that mine is an XL (not Lariat), and was a former landscaping truck with a stakebody on it. Now that I've replaced the complete interior, painted the exterior and installed a one piece custom made fiberglass pickup bed, it's probably worth closer to $15k. If it had power windows, door locks and mirrors, air conditioning, 4x4 and leather, $21k might not be unreasonable. In any case, the dealer will probably drop some money if you push a bit. I've heard that a lot of folks are leery of the 6.0L and that they don't move off dealer lots at full price.

As far as registration and insurance goes, I did have a bit of trouble getting my insurer (Nationwide) to recognize the fact that the F-450 exists and that my VIN was not an error. I got a regular policy on it by explaining that it is not to be used as a commercial vehicle, but only to haul my RV. The state of PA has it registered with a GVWR of 11,000 pounds, even though the door plate lists it at 15k. I did not want to pay the substantial extra cost for the higher rating, and as long as I'm not going to be over that when hooked up to the RV, it won't be a problem. I do not know if CA is different in that regard.
