Have you ever had Chrysler perform the cleaning process to your turbo?
In the first 2 years my truck was at the dealers every few months. The first year 6.7L had major growing pains dealing with emissions. In the first 35K miles the turbo was replaced twice & EGR, heater grid etc. cleaned several times along with O2 sensors, exhaust wrap and various computer updates. Last cleaning was done at 35K. Had the CCV replaced at 60K. Have not had any problems in last 45K miles and now have 80K on it.
This is somewhat of a common problems with these engines especially ones that had the turbo cleaned via the chemical injection into the turbo cleaning port. Having said that it's most likely your exhaust manifold has a small crack and the extra pressure between the turbo/exhaust brake and the manifold itself is pushing the exhaust gas out a crack therefore making this noise. I would get it fixed as this issue can cause other problems down the road.
Good luck...
