2009 Dodge 3500 Mega Cab

Hello all,
Looking for a new TV and found a 2009 Dodge Megacab 3500 for a smoking deal 20k. Was wondering how the Mega would do for 5th wheel towing with such a short bed I have a slider in my current truck so may be able to use that only thing I don't like it the auto trans was looking for a manual but may back off on that for a good deal. Any experiences you all have had with the newer trucks would be appreciated and I have a 99 Dodge 2500 V10 right now.http://elpaso.en.craigslist.org/cto/4135760114.html
  • If you're wanting to pull a fifth wheel and want to stay within your ratings- avoid the MegaCab? Their payload capacities are ridiculously low.
  • There is nothing wrong with the 68RFE automatic. Reliability has been better than the Allison in most instances. Only thing I wouls be concerned about is whether the truck had had a tuner on it and if all the updates had been done. For 20K there must be something wrong? High miles, tuner, beat to death, something? Look very closely before you leap
  • Megacab has the same size bed as any other Dodge short bed so you will be fine there.

If it were me, I would look for a 2010 or later to get the new body style.
