What transmission? 2500 Cummins are available with both a 6 speed manual and a 6 speed automatic. The 68RFE automatic is a very reliable transmission that will return years of service. Depending on rear end ratio it could be a real good unit. The 3.42 standard rear end ratio works good for most people. But I would much prefer the 3.72 or the 4.10 for towing heavy.
Maybe so but the 3.42 is the ONLY option for any RAM SRW truck. 4.10 and 3.73 are available along with 3,42 on their dually trucks.
Op you should consider a 3500/AISIN with rear air ride. 68RFE is a good trans but the combo I mentioned will allow for towing much more if you decide to in the future.
