I have never locked out 6th and I believe the lockout feature is available on all trim levels. Tranny will pick 5th when necessary and then go back into 6th when it can. I do not keep mpg records as towing and mpg is an oxymoron. You get what you get. I do use tow haul mode at all times when towing.
