2011 Ram 2500

Just checked our "new" 2011 Ram 2500 SLT crew cab 6.7 mileage for the first time. Was surprised at over 20 mpg (with a small amount of city driving in Chrystal Springs Fl along US 19). I hand calculated (fill to max before and after).

I have been reading horror stories about terrible mileage etc and the need to perhaps look for an expensive "delete kit" etc. Our last Dodge was a 2002 extended cab. It routinely delivered an honest 22 to 23 mpg on highway. Only reason we sold it was very difficult for wife to turn around in back seat (she's had knee surgery and cannot sit up front with leg bent for long periods of time. Also, this comes with factory exhaust brake).

This "newer" truck with 38,000 miles surpasses our old beloved '02 CTD by a wide margin. I plan to stay on top of all maintenance for EPA stuff as I have always done for our '02 in general. Kudos to the Ram team!
  • I drive a 2013 Ram 4X4 with the Cummins. Traveling between my kids home and mine, I was getting 20-21 MPG on the highway, not towing, set the cruise control at 72 and loving it. I replaced my stock tires with some BF Goodrich AT and I lost 2 MPG traveling the same route, same conditions. JH
  • Hi The truck is 2wd with 3.73 rear end. I admit I drove for optimum mileage (62 mph with cruise control for good portion, no A/C etc,). Also I picked up a 5 yr/100,000 mile comprehensive warranty thru our credit union for $2018. Think this truck and I will be "bonding " as time goes by.
  • That's really good mileage, what rear end is in it and is your truck a 4x4?. I also have a 2011 2500 6.7 4x4 with the 410 rear end. I have also done the delete and only get 16 and that is figuring it by hand. I try to drive under 70 to keep the RPM's under 2000 I find I get better fuel mileage. I sure wish I was getting your fuel mileage.
