The Duramax has the shortest design life, which was reduced to a B10 of 215,000 with the last revision. Powerstroke also went down to 225k with the 6.7L (it was 250k with the 6.0/6.4 but B10 clearly did not meet the actual experience which is called "L10"). The "10" stands for a 10% catastrophic engine failure. B=design, L=actual.
Didn't realize those motors were rated so low. GM's 6.0 gas has a B10 of 200,000 miles according to Isuzu's website, who uses that engine in some of their commercial cab forward trucks. Not sure what the Ford V10's B10 rating is, would be interesting to know.4x4ord wrote:
I would think most Cummins and Duramax equipped trucks would be capable of running up and down the highway for 500k miles in 2 - 3 years. What about the new Fords? I find the trucks that make the million mile mark over a 15 year period more impressive.
What about the new Fords? Here's one with 500k miles- carringbExplorer

The Cummins 6.7L B10 is 385,000. Note those are all rating for cab-chassis configurations. Pickups ratings may be lower. The B10 ratings are published annually in "Fleet Owner" magazine.
I'm pretty sure the B10 ratings are why Ford doesn't put their diesel in the MDTs. It's probably also why you can't order the higher HP levels in the Cummins unless its for RV or Emergency vehicle use. - Michelle_SExplorer IIII just can't believe you guys are questioning things on these forums.

Like Ford uses good Diesel engines? - notevenExplorer III14,000 to 16,000 miles/month is not uncommon in long haul work.
