His comment about not using T/H mode mirrors what many LTL haulers are saying. Not only can a experienced driver help the tranny but actually gets better fuel mileage. Getting a .3 or .5 better mpg doesn't sound like much but is a bunch over several hundred thousand miles.
The computer simply can't anticipate like a experienced operator.
