2013 ceder creek 36 RE axle question

My Brother purchased a new Ceder Creek fifth wheel last year. The unit is 36' long and unit weight is over 14k plus. The unit had 6 lug rimes with E rated tires. When questioned about this the dealer in Sacramento Ca. told him that he would have to pay extra to get the 7000 lb axles installed as a option. Does this sound a little crazy. The Ceder creek brosure shows only 8 lug G rated rims and tires on this size unit. Has anyone else gotten this type of deal? Please give me some feedback on what you think. To me this is a safety issue that Corporate should take care of.
  • Go check with that dealer. Should be 8 lug rims, probably 614 tires and 7k axles. Something doesn't smell right with this deal. Also, confirm the month and year of manufacture. It's on a decal/sticker left side front .
  • The scales should be his friend. Get it to a set of scales and get each axle weihed. BTW the 36RE is fourty feet long if I remember correctly
  • Why not start by calling Cedar Creek and see what they have to say first?

  • Something's not right. The 36RE has a GVW of 16,431lbs. Minus 20% for pin and you still have 13,144lbs on the axles. Even subtracting 25% he's still over the axles by 323lbs. I would call Forestriver and talk to a tech guy and ask him to explain why my 5'er has underrated axels.
  • Thanks all, I will get with my brother and see what he wants to do. They purchased this unit about a year ago and just told me about this issue. I think that getting a hold of Forest River Tech person would be the best idea..Thanks My 34 TSRE Heartland Elkridge is 37' 11" and weights in over 14400 and it came with 8 lug rims and the correct tires. Any one have the phone number for the factory Tech people at FOrest River???
  • My 2014 Cedar Creek 34 RLSA-7, purchased two months ago, weighs 12,125# dry. It has 7,000# axles (RLSA-7) 8 lug wheels, Goodyear G tires. The axles and tires were a $2,320.00 option on this model.
