It sounds like from your description of usage a gas engine would make more sense.
I would get any option that increased towing and hauling ability.
Have you driven a Dodge or GM truck? I haven't been in a Ford that new but several years back the ride of a GM truck was much nicer. Coming from what I assume is a very smooth riding Toyota the GM might ride more like you're accustomed to.
