2013 F350

The plastic tank, aluminum core radiators that Ford uses are not that great. But, the one in my '98 Ranger did last 14 years and the one in my '92 F350 lasted 21 years. I replaced both of them this year and last. The one in my '97 F350 so far is still good, as is the '05 E350.

I found some with a quick google search... I do agree Ford should be more forgiving on the warranty claims. If for anything else the public opinion is worth it. A guy I work with was denied coverage on his 2010 Dodge due to "sludge" killing most of his injectors. This guy is the best offshore mechanic i've ever worked with. He said they were full of******but got screwed over in the end either way. Does that tarnish my opinion of the 6.7 from Ram? No way, its a killer setup.

I'd venture most of us know about the radiator and engine problems that have been reported. I keep current on most of the bigger forums for each make.

I think most people are pretty level headed. I wish Ford would finally update their radiator design, I have to assume they know its a weak point but the bean counters deem it OK. Why that is, I don't know. I assume it is due to the contract with their supplier and who is assuming the repair cost. I think its a very poor move on their part. At this point I check the coolant levels and check the crimp connection every so often and roll on.

I have yet to meet an owner of a 6.7 Ford who isn't thrilled with his truck. I guess if you can search the net for trouble and find some horror stories and that helps you feel good about owning whatever else you might own that's all good. If someone asks on here how the new 6.7 Cummins is doing I know they're not asking me cause I don't own one.

That's fine. There are a lot of happy 6.0 owners out there too. That doesn't make it a great engine. There are a lot of happy Vega owners also. That doesn't make it a great engine.

I have yet to meet an owner of a 5.7 Olds diesel who isn't thrilled with his engine. Of course I only know a few like myself who do own them. Just because I don't meet these people doesn't mean it's a great engine. It's not! They are a junk design and have many design problems.

I'm going to tell them what I know and what my tech friends know and what they tell me about it.

Just because "you" have never heard of engine problems and someone else doesn't know about radiator problems doesn't mean "I" or my "tech friends" don't know about them.

I have never owned an LB7 but I know I would never buy an LB7 without knowing it has updated Bosch injectors. The 1st design by Bosch was junk and had design problems. It's a 5 grand problem. If someone asks, I will tell them about it.

Just because I don't own a certain vehicle also doesn't mean I don't know about them. You would be surprised at how many Ford techs don't own and have never owned the engines they work on. And that goes for all brands.

Wow... I didn't realize that driving #2 and a distant #3 manufacturer truck caused so much angst and frustration: :W

Several quick comments (I'll leave out the other mfg's trials and tribulations to mitigate this discussion):
1. Here's Diesel Tech Ron's one video on the 6.7 and a positive comment. Linky

2. Joe Diesel even reported he would own a 6.7. He also reported he would not own a 6.4 which I would agree.
3. The Ford/Chrysler Shop my cousin works at has 50% less diesel techs at the Ford shop vs the RAM shop since the 6.7 has been released (Includes both Powerstroke and Cummins 6.7 version).
4. Huntindog is brand loyal unlike what he reports at RV.Net. Starting with the nonsense in post 225. Get the Popcorn :W
5. Fish test drove the RAM, Ford and kicked the tire of a Chevy when deciding his '12 purchase.
6. Fish continues to enjoy the smooth strong efficient power from his 6.7 Powerstroke Super Duty. With 36k miles and not a single glitch. :B

Again, go to some forums and look for common problems. Or go talk to Ford techs and see what problems they work on most. I'll tell you right now it isn't the HPFP; although there has been quite a few of those that went bye, bye.

You can find examples of every brand with an unhappy owner.

I have yet to meet an owner of a 6.7 Ford who isn't thrilled with his truck. Of the 13 trucks we have at our facility, 9 have had engines replaced at least once, and several have had cylinder heads off since engine replacement due to cracked valves.
I happened to hear about this TSB and reading your posts, the symptoms sounded familiar.

You know I don't have time to read all your links but I did pick up this one listed. Wow I wonder if they count new long blocks as another truck sold :W Old Joe Diesel has had a few with burnt, dropped valves over on youtube. Whats his names BIL is starting to sound fishy to me :B

:S :R, You must have missed the part where I said:

There is a BIG difference between: "My oil cooler hose weeps" and "a valve head just fell of the stem and destroyed my engine."

Or "my left hand fog light does not work" and "my turbo had to be replaced for the 3rd time."

Or "my DEF gauge is not registering right" and "my truck told me to pull over, it stalled along side the road and now it won't start."

Or "I have a steering clunk" and "my engine just blew up."

I will let you try and figure out how to match which complaint comes from which forum. :B

Again, you can find some pretty serious issues with every brand. I guess when your number 1 people find time in their busy (or not so busy?) schedules to come out of the woodwork. It might be hard for you to understand but the vast majority of Ford owners are very happy and it is the best truck they have ever owned. I'm not brand loyal and have had at least one of each brand and had good luck with them all.
