2013 GMC Sierra 1500 extended Cab TV for 20FT TT

I am wanting to get a small 20 ft TT for doing some traveling this year. My truck has the Tow package and brake gain controller but am wondering if this will be sufficient for travel comfortably.
We live in Tennessee and have mountains and hills and eventually would like to go to the Dakotas and I am wondering if this will be able to handle the stress.
Driving home with this truck I kept the speed at 60 - 65 MPH however it seemed to me that the motor noise was quite a bit louder.
Mileage went from 20 MPG to 10.2
What do you experienced RVers think?
Any suggestions or recommendations?

  • Really can't answer your concerns without more info....

What motor, assuming 6 speed transmission, final gear ratio (3:42, 3:73, 4:10) weight of trailer, ect.
  • Judging from your MPG towing. It's just about right, and yeah. You will hear the motor more. It's working now. Before it was just loafing, and in truth, being wasted. Motors like to work.
  • I agree with the last poster. If you have the same engine/gearing (5.3/3.73) as my Avy you should be fine.
  • Should be fine...BUT without more information about your truck..motor, gearing, etc. my opinion is only a rough guess.

Post the details about your truck and trailer and you will get much better info.
