It wasn't too long ago that a retired couple in their Super Duty 7.3 psd challenged me and I dusted him too. :B
I will say two things. 1st of all the 7.3 is still running a decade later. 2 thumbs up!
2nd off I think I still have a 68 VW Bug that would dust it also :B They were upgraded that year to something like 40 HP....
I'm to old for drag racing nowadays, especially on public roads. But maintaining speed pulling up the Grapevine at 24k lbs is sweet. Even better to go the posted speed limit (35 MPH) down the back side without touching the service brakes. That there is priceless.
Even with my wrong 3:42 gears I run 55 or more from Mexico to the Canadian border on I-5 with 28,240# combined weight. My truck scales at 13,940#, maybe I should get a 13 so I can be within factory specs? - 45RicochetExplorer

..My idea of a great truck, be it Chevy/GM, Ford or Dodge/Ram is that it's reliable, looks good and does the job that I want it to do..don't care if it's the fastest, has the most HP or TQ, most GVWR, GCWR and on...honest, it doesn't matter to me,
Not that it matters any, but what was it that made your 2012 inadequate? I don't blame you at all for going for the 2013 - I might even consider a Ram next time around - but something must have been leaving you wanting with your 2012 and about the only difference is more HP, torque, GVWR, GCWR and so on.

you know I answered 4x4ord that there was nothing inadequate about the 12'...absolutely nothing...it's "me"...Just thought it was funny that he had to use the words "inadequate and that something must have been "leaving me "wanting" with the 2012...yeah, I had REALLY wanted a 13'.....couldn't/didn't see it happening, but when offered the deal I was offered..had to go for it...it's just me....There may or may not be issues with the 13', so far at a little over 800 miles, I'm getting better mpg with the 13' than I did the 10 or 12 comparing same type driving. It's smoother driving, the EB is awesome, (two settings for it),
was kind of funny, the only difference was HP, TQ, GVWR, GCWR, ...and so on, ie, frame, front end, tranny, suspension, DEF, more information as to what the vehicle is doing, 15,000 mile interval oil changes, new color.....and on:) - NC_HaulerExplorer

How could you tell if it was a 2013 Ram 2500HD? Just curious.
Or which transmission it had. You lose 20 ponies with the 68 and 35 with the hand shaker. Torque goes from 850 down to 800 with the 68 and 660 with the hand shaker. Just me but my days of rolling the gears is gone with that much of a power loss :M
Jim is there any noticeable body difference between the 12 and 13?
Well besides the Antenna location :W
Sorry for the late response as I don't see this thread on my home PC :R
The headlights was the indicator it was a '13 model and the truck had an auto tranny. Later down the road a bit I pulled into a Shell station to fill up and the (young) guy pulled in to talk. His new truck had ~2,500 miles and he's gettign around 16 mpg mixed driving and enjoying his new truck.
This is actually the second time at this particular intersection(the first being an '90's Dodge cummins truck and I'm in my 05 Super Duty 6.0 psd) that I had to step up to the plate. :B

We'll know the hurt locker test soon enough.
My guess is Ram will bring up the rear like the previous one, the one before that, and every other test since the beginning....
Who knows, you may be right...doesn't matter...I know the capabilities of this truck..I'm not racing anyone up the side of a mountain...I owned Chevy's and they won it all the time..loved it...no big deal....I still bought a Ram...
Thanks for your visionary insight. - NC_HaulerExplorer
