you are correct, i mis-spoke as to the numbers.. the supercab is listed as (per http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/payload/):
SuperCab 4x2 163" 5.0L V8 8200‡ 2710‡

the towing guide linked (http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/general/pdf/towingguides/13flrv&tt_f150.pdf):

4x2 SuperCab 163.0" 8,200 1,831

quite a disparity in numbers. now - the supercab can, in theory seat 6 - at a ford assumed 150lbs each where i am going to have 3, 200, 150 and 50. that is a 500 lb difference in passengers alone. just trying to sort out conflicting numbers.

see, this is where things get weird.. per the document you posted - 1800 lbs payload, but per their payload website the full bed super cab 4x2 with 5.0 payload with max tow, max payload package is 2620.

so i'm not sure if the numbers you've provided are making a set of unstated assumptions or if one is overly optimistic shrugs:

My comment was directed to the op - even though I didnt quote his OP.

I didnt see where the OP detailed his vehicle choice. There are many details that affect the cargo weight values. The OP requests information on a 2014, not 2013.

I'm surprised you didn't post this in the truck camper forum as someone over there may have the same F150HD and the same truck camper and give you their input AND more importantly the weight police aren't as bad.

Actually, my answer was very specific to the OP's question.

Remember, he is asking about slide in camper payload.

The 2013 F-150 Tow Guide devotes an entire page to slide in campers (page 4).

The OP will need to subtract the weight of optional equipment he wants to add to his truck.

He has not provided us the specific options he needs/wants. Also, his option list is somewhat limited because the vehicle he wants only comes in XL or XLT trim.

The maximum cargo weight rating for the truck you describe is 1,826 lbs. for the ecoboost engine and 1,831 lbs. for the 5.0 engine. These weights are for a truck with minimum equipment (heavy-duty payload package option). Adding additional optional equipment will reduce the weight rating.

For a comparison, the F-250 maximum cargo weight rating is 2,843 lbs. with the gas engine and 2,103 lbs. with the diesel engine. Adding optional equipment will reduce the weight rating.

you know, to bring this around full circle to the 1984 comment - i do have a 1984 f250 ;)

on the dealer - i'm with you. i don't trust them as far as i could throw'em. i've had several argue with me on the very EXISTENCE of the HD Package " Aw son, you must be mistaking the HD package for an f250, here let me show you this f350drw platinum this is what you really need" is damn near verbatim to a conversation i had with one.

Sorry, just messin around. The OP asked if this particular truck would haul that old, lightweight camper, and it will.

You're correct, typically bigger is better, but for a comfortable DD that will haul the camper once in a while, he's on track. Better fuel mileage too with the 150.

Also, yes, have had just about, if not every model/engine configuration of F series pickup since the early 90's models. Company trucks, last count, around 15 different F150-F350 trucks. Earliest being a '91 F150 six banger 5speed, latest is a new F250 6.2. Probably one of the bigger reasons I wouldn't own one. Alot of them have been good trucks, but have had more than a couple problem ones as well. Mostly the Triton engine ones 04-08 vintage and of course the 6.0 no.
