Even Ford doesn't back it up unless you get the HD payload package. That's either a real lucky find on a lot, or a special order truck. Otherwise it's not real common.
The typical F150s you'll find on the lot are no better than GM or RAM or Toyota as far as payload goes on average.
Good point, and makes me wonder why GM & Ram don't offer HD options for their half-tons.
Seems that it wouldn't be a huge engineering challenge, and could be as basic as a heavier-duty spring/shock combo.
Maybe GM & Ram have a philosophy that it would cannibalize three-quarter-ton sales, a concern that Ford execs don't share?
