I am not sure how you don't pull some valuable information out of the tests. Putting the three different trucks through the same pulling regiment and seeing how they perform I think is absolutely valuable in making buying decisions. Some guys may put looks over function, and braking performance over engine performance or they will buy the brand they always have. Either way, the information is there for your use without going to three different dealers and begging to pull a trailer with their new truck as a demo.
Where the tests start to become less valuable is when things get too subjective. I like to see the numbers and leave subjective opinions out of it or in a section that is nothing but subjective thoughts. I still would like to see coolant temps, tranny temps and EGTs continually during the tests.
I look forward to seeing the outcome.
I also love the tests. They have some fairly practical information, such as the mpg comparisons and things of that nature. Sure, they are not the be-all-end-all, but I like reading what they have to say. My only hesitation is that they make me feel like I might have missed my calling in life -- I would love to have been a vehicle tester!
