- JfreshExplorerWhats the payload of your f-250? Your are going to need air bags. A good start is to take what ever it says on the camper and 1000 lbs. Check the tire ratings as well. These things get heavy fast.
- alaska_guy1ExplorerWhere would be my best bet to buy some fastguns for a good price? My local dealer says they are 3 weeks out.
- alaska_guy1ExplorerThanks for the info!
Looking on Lances website it says the 865 will work with a 1/2 ton. I have a 3/4 ton Crew cab short bed Ford F250. I haven't installed airbags or any additional suspension components... Will I need to get anything? I really don't want to get airbags as they seem to always leak. I was debating on getting some larger energy suspension bump stops if I need some help to engage the overload sooner. The material they use allows a smoother engagement of the overload and since the bumpstops are bigger than the standard bumpstops they engage sooner.
I took measurements in the rear of my truck and here is a picture to describe my current situation with stock suspension.
I am thinking a 2" bumpstop in the rear and a 1" bumpstop up front. That would give me 1" before my overloads would engage. Any reason the rear of the leaf has a bigger gap than the front from the factory? - SugarHillCTDExplorerIn addition to this forum, you might want to check out the Lance Owners of America. Nice group of folks there too.
http://www.lanceowners.org/ - GpnAZExplorerWe had a Lance 865 for 3 years and it served us well. Never any problems with delam and never heard of any on the later models. We traded ours in for a AF 811 to gain larger holding tanks and water and the slide gives us more room for when we have to lounge inside. The 865 was ideal for us for shorter trips but got a little tight when we were gone longer then a week or two. No regrets though, it was a great camper!

- jefe_4x4ExplorerGood job. I have a predecessor to the 865, the 165-s which has basically the same foot print and outer dimensions, but with way-updated framing, appliances, electronics and finish detail.. I have not heard of de-lam issues with the 2014, but I'm starting to live in the past as the Millennials have left me in the dust. It's quite fine dust, mind you. We are the last stages of our metal sheathed, wood framed, aluminum roofed, too-many-windowed electronically updated white box. It has no leaks and will take us into the sunset.
The only thing i would say is that with a small exterior footprint comes and even smaller interior living space. But when you have a short bed truck, the pickin's are limited.

Welcome to the Lance and TC community! Considering you are in AK that price seems fabulous. - alaska_guy1ExplorerPurchased my first truck camper today. 2014 Lance 865. It's at the service department getting detailed and inspected.
- alaska_guy1ExplorerThanks for the feedback. It comes with power jacks, but no air conditioning. Don't need it here in Alaska. ;)
