This is all great advice and input guys. I do appreciate it. I want this truck to last me at least 10 years, so I do want to do my best to follow manufacturers advice.
But I think you guys make some great points. I definitely vary my speed and lay off of the cruise for the first 500. Also I think 60-65 is a reasonable speed for towing. My dad owns a construction company so I grew up driving 1 ton trucks (dad's a Chevy truck man). Like the guy above said we didn't follow any breakin. In fact we never even cracked the manual :). We'd load them up and work them from day one. His trucks last a LONG time. He's still got some '95 Chevy 3500s in service. And those have the 350 small block that is very weak on HP/TQ.
Just talked to my salesman. He's got the truck cleaned up and gassed up for me. I just have to show up and sign the papers. I will post some pictures tonight. Excited doesn't describe it...I haven't been able to sleep for 2 days!
I'm Jealous!
Another thought on the break in....
Class A, B, and C motorhomes get put on a (van) chassis and run loaded from mile 1. I don't read of too many rear gear failures from them....
