Buddy of mine just bought a 2014 Ram 3500 SRW equipped with the 370hp/800tq Cummins and the 68RFE Trans. It is equipped EXACTLY the same as my truck options wise. Both Laramies, both 4x4, leather, both short beds, same tires (Firestone Transforce HT 18"), same wheels, same interior options, etc. Virtual twins other than color and engine/trans and axle ratio. I am surprised that the GVWR on the gas truck is so much lower than the diesel. Enjoy your new truck. I think that the $8,000 you saved will be well worth it in the end. With the heavier truck, I would not be surprised if you do have a higher 0-60 MPH speed than your buddy. .

Looks like they beef up the suspension now for the mighty Cummins so that it still compare favorable against the gasser. That's quite an improvement over my SRW which is only rated for 2900# payload.

That accounts for the GVWR difference.Oh, and my oil changes are pricey too with the 6.4L Hemi, it requires only 0w40 synthetic oil (same as the SRT cars), so they are $125 every time. :)

I believe we have a set price right about now for fuel. It's been about the same price around here for a few years in summer, diesel much more in winter.
I'll wedge on heavy right about now, but next week might be a bit different......
It don't really matter much to me, I purchase both premium gas and diesel fuel.
Damned if I do, dammed if I don' t I guess.

No, I can't predict the future :) but I am saying that the diesel will be worth more when it comes time to sell or trade.

The diesel should be worth more when it comes time to trade, it did cost 8+ grand more...

If the OP has the 6.4 hemi with the 4.10 and tows up a mountain that is less than 1000 ft at the top and is willing to run his hemi at 5600 rpm I would not be willing to bet who would win.

Not many people are willing to run an engine that high although I am sure the 6.4 hemi is capable without a problem.

In a 0-60 drag race my money would be on the diesel.
