Yep gone are the days of diesels making the mileage my truck does.
Add the cost of fuel and length of ownership into the equation and you are better off with a gas engine at this point. That is, if you are not going to own you truck for say ten years or more.
I looked long and hard at the 6.4 in a 2500. But we will not be towing anything of any weight in the next ten years, so a HD truck is not needed.
Then I looked at the 1500. Even with the cost of diesel, the Eco-Diesel's fuel mileage and the fact that I will keep it ten years or more, it's a no brainier for me. The up charge for the 3.0 diesel is only $2,850 over the Hemi.
Now the new curve ball is my dealer has a Jeep Grand in stock with everything I want for $4000 less then the truck I would be ordering! But I'm not ready to buy yet :M .
