Assuming one is not towing heavy, query whether it makes more economic sense to pay $1500 more for the 6.4 or $7500 more for diesel. Seems like the former.
I agree...if you are a weekend warrior pulling an 8-12K trailer the 6.4 with 4.10 gears should be considered.
I just crossed over 500 miles on mine. I have done about 170 miles today. I really paid attention to fuel economy. Mixed suburban Louisville driving gets me about 13mpg. What I noticed today is that this truck is capable of good fuel economy...IF YOU ARE IN A FLAT AREA. I went down a 30 mile highway today and on the flat parts at 62 mph the MDS kicks in and the EVIC shows steady 25-30 mpg. The problem I have is that there isn't much flat land around here. It's hill after hill. Once you start going up a hill MDS shuts off and EVIC shows 10-14 mpg. It doesn't downshift it just purrs along at low RPM.
Moral of the story is if you live in a flat area and you are trying you can get good fuel economy out of this engine. If you are in a hilly area I'd expect to average around 13-15 mpg city.
