Maybe.... maybe not. Not all insurance companies report to Carfax. My business partner drove his truck into a tree and caused about 14K damage. He asked the insurance people about it and they basically told him they don't really care about Carfax and don't take the time to report it.
I suppose a salvage title might register due to the change in title. My main point for people to be VERY weary of Carfax and similar services. They provide some useful information but there is no guarantee they will have everything.
And speaking guarantees, the Carfax Gazillion dollar guarantee only kicks in if the information is "discoverable". So, they aren't going to give anyone a dime for a scenario like my partner's truck.... the information wasn't missed by them because it wasn't out there anywhere.
