Most of the guys who say you must have a dually... are basing it off of their experience with older trucks. The new trucks are so much more capable than the old ones. IMO- a new srw one-ton is far more truck than a 2009 or older dually.
For a 16,000# trailer a new one ton srw is more than capable. And I would take the 6k savings. If you had to replace the transmission at 150k miles you would still be money ahead!
