My Ram/Aisin just rolled 30,000 miles. I have let my trusted small town dealer do my oil changes because they only charge $10 labor...I bring them my own oil and filer. I had scheduled the Aisin "service" since that is what the owners manual recommends at 30,000. A couple hours later the dealer calls and says the service will be $405 and they will have to order the fluid, do I still want to do it? I replied...what do you think and what do others do? Everyone waits until at least 50,000 unless you're towing heavy everyday. OK, I'll wait.What say you???

Follow manufacturer’s recommendations.

I say follow what the owner's manual says. They are the ones who designed and built your vehicle and they should know best.

30K Drained fluid and refilled. 60K Remove pan and replace filter and fluid. Do you have the diesel supplement with maintenance schedule. It's probably $405 because they are flushing the system or I would hope so. If they are going by the schedule and just dropping the fluid that's pretty pricey. Oil, filter, flush, I can see it being $400.Edit: I found the trans oil cross reference Mobil ATF3309 $5.40 a quart/case price

I think the fluid is very expensive but yes, unless you want to do it yourself, let them do it.Could be worse, my SRT is coming up for the same service and it's pushing $1K.

Oh well, you saved a ton on oil changes.

Ok I got ya on the lines now. It's a moot point now since I pressed them on doing the 30,000 mile service. It will be a drain and replace this time, then at 60,000 drop the pan and replace the filter.

I put Amsoil synthetic in mine and it made a noticeable difference in ease of shifting and runs much cooler to the touch than before.

Does anyone know why in the warranty manual it lists 90k and 150k miles for the Aisin drain intervals? If the Aisin really requires 30k drain intervals vs 150k intervals with the Torqshift ... even in the F750... why? Do Ford and Allison use oil that stands up better or is it something to do with the transmission?

$1k? That’s nuts. I believe your SRT is newer, 8 speed? But I just paid for my first trans service in a long time on the wife’s SRT. It was 2 hundred and something. Local trans shop that does good work.

Yes, it's the 8 speed. Killer trans!
They could not have done it to spec because it requires the integral pan/filter be replaced and it's something like $400. Then the correct fluid is pricey as well and the refill procedure takes a lot of time.

I drove a 8 speed SRat and yeah........want! Keep threatening to get a new one, but the old one runs hard and tight still at 130kmi now. Hauling kids to soccer and hockey practice 2-3x a day, lol.
No, they did a drop pan and refill 4x and new filter on the last drop n fill. Great deal. Maybe it was 3 something but.....what a _______ to do. Have to drop the X member and hold up the trans to remove the pan.
