For whatever it is worth, I have been running Goodyear Marathon "C" range 14 inch tires on my 2500 lb. single axle trailer for the last year, with 15,000 miles on them so far. No visible wear yet.
But I have been told by very knowledgeable folks that Maxxis trailer tires are the best.
