- hoopersExplorerI am pretty happy with my 2011 chevy diesel HD. When it comes down to another purchase, the three top factors will be:
1) Reliability
2) MPG
3) Engine brake.
HP and Torque are important, but the 3 brands are very similar these days.
Looks and style are important, but will always get trumped by the above 3 factors.
Factor 4 (in the future) could be DEF and the way the specific brand addresses it.
I would like to see Ford get a better engine brake, something in the same class as GM or Dodge. Maybe the newer ones are better, I don't know. Just in 2011, Ford engine brakes didn't perform as well as Dodge and GM. Slowing down these big rigs on steep grades, is something I consider important.
Nice to see the 2014 GM MPG numbers are high. Good job GM, if they are real. Time will tell. Too many mfg'ers are lying about MPG of late. - LessmoreExplorer II

Same here.
I notice that other mags I've read at the newsstand...such as Car + Driver and Motor Trend have given the new 2014 Impala the big thumbs up.
I know of a guy who has a 2014 Impala and he's very pleased with his car...the power, quiet, comfort, handling, ride....it's got the whole thing.
Some reviews have said that the 2014 Impala is more comparable to cars costing 20 grand more. - MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerHave been watching a lot of reviews on youtube on the new GM twins. Lots of praise in all areas. The all new 4.3 is well liked and the 5.3 has some nice power even with 8500 pounds in tow.

- catfishmontanaExplorerWe had a Chevy Impala in 2008. It was an SS version with the 5.3. We really liked that car until you had to work on something under the hood. That V8 was crammed in there pretty tight. LOL

If consumer reports gave huge thumbs up to impala, then GM must be doing some good stuff !!! They never say anything good about American autos. I never read their stuff because of it. Might have to check out the review!
The new Chevy Impala looks to be a Grand Slam for GM... And boy do they need it too!- GeoBoyExplorerI work part time for a company that has Ford 250 & 350's and I find my 2005 Silverado 3500 much more comfortable to drive. I drove out to CO 750 miles a day and was less tired than driving the Fords 400 miles in a day. To each their own.
- KampfirekidExplorerThe square fenders with round wheels are just the continued sign that GM still is trying to put a round peg in a square hole. I'm a die hard Ford man, but have really been looking hard at the GMC's. I have talked to a lot of 2013 GM drivers, and the only report I find common is fuel mileage of the diesel less than Ford's 6.7L. I'm not at all interested in GM's 6.0L gasser, but also am considering the 6.2L Ford gasser.
The other hump I can't get over is the car-like interior of the GM, and the 2014's are no different. The Ford to me just says "Truck".
I really would like the change, and the 2014 could help. - MARK_VANDERBENTExplorerIf consumer reports gave huge thumbs up to impala, then GM must be doing some good stuff !!!
