- The_Mad_NorskyExplorerBelieve the Ford was King Ranch version. And, even with that, the testers preferred the interiors of the GMC and the Ram.
Lots of winning tidbits for all three vehicles actually. I think they did a pretty fair job with all three vehicles. - 4x4ordExplorer III

Personally... I think this discussion proves what we all already know. Most people, with a few exceptions, drive what they like. The only Ford I've ever owned was an old Econoline van. Ford's are just not my thing. I don't like the way the new trucks look and their noisier than they have to be.
I had a 94' 1500 Dodge Ram. Bought it because (1) the GM dealer PO'ed me the day I went to buy a new truck and I liked the new Dodge body style. But it had a HUGE blind spot on the passenger side windshield post, it never rode as good as my GM trucks, and the transmission went out of it at less than 10k miles. On the new ones, the tow mirrors coming at you remind me of Bullwinkle moose. And Rams are also noisier than they have to be.
Other than those things, I wouldn't be afraid to hook up with anyone of them and do what this test did. Performance wise, there's not a nickel's difference between the three. The rest of it, IMHO, is brand loyalty and personal preference.
If you have actually came close to a new Ford that was running you likely assumed it was shut off. They are extremely quiet. While both cruising and under full acceleration the Ford interior is quieter than a Lexus sedan. - 45RicochetExplorer

Think the Ford will pull the hill loaded the fastest with GM fastest in the quarter mile empty.
Pretty much nailed it although GM scored more points in the end. Congrats GMC guys , but I wonder what the results would have been with a Chevy? Not ragging on Chevy but the GMC truck looks much better IMO. - ksssExplorerI test drove a 2015 3500 Chevy CC/LB,SRW this weekend. Nice truck and I will likely order one in Oct for a December delivery. Reading this makes me feel good about the choice in trucks, but I would order one anyway even if it was third place. I am surprised at how well these GM trucks do in these tests, and I don't understand why, considering the statistical difference in power, they should not do as well as they do. Ford and Ram better bring their A game when GM ups the output of the Duramax. Considering the whooping the Dmax puts on them now, it could get down right ugly when the stat sheets are more equitable.
- Buck50HDExplorerSo the RAM managed to get 2nd place, yet it lost nearly every performance test, had average fuel economy and the most brake touches on descents? Too bad the truck was intolerably loud. But the interior is nice. Sounds like something Ford would win for.
And the flat land brake test... tire compound will cause more variation than they measured. Aside from that, the empty and unplugged are the only reasonable tests. The magic "5" setting was useless since they didn't normalize current. A real test would be a brake fade sequence.
First place went to the right truck. I think the overall gear ratios helped the GMC in a few tests but still impressive. And it doesn't have the SD shimmy that I have to live with now:S If they just had some decent full-power mirrors and styling... - 4x4ordExplorer III

6.7 liters is still 6.7 liters whether you have 6 cylinders or 8 cylinders...
Powerstroke and Dmax V8s will make their power in roughly the same RPM range. Don't understand the "laid back" comment...
You're right the Powerstroke and Duramax have similar power ranges although the GM can keep making power a little longer. The power drops off quite rapidly after about 2900 rpm with Ford where as GM can keep it up till about 3200. (I'm going by memory here and might be off a bit on exact rpm but the idea is on). The difference in behavior of the two engines is huge. The Ford is tuned to loaf along with your foot to the floor towing up a hill at 1900 rpm in 4th gear....if it was to be tuned more like a Duramax it would be eager to drop into 3rd and rev to 2500 where it is making more power and would start accelerating. I tow with both a Ford and Duramax and personally like the "laid back attitude of the Ford". - Cummins12V98Explorer III

I enjoyed the article... :B
Happy you are ok;)
You do know the difference between "Quantitative" and "Qualitative" data do you?
I thought in my original prediction that the Qualitative results would have pushed RAM into the first place.
Too big of words for me!
Get rid of the off the line part and they would have been there. They are so close choose what U want! Cummins12V98 wrote:
