So we all agree that the three are now pretty close to equal. It took GM and Ram 15 years to get their truck to a level that is able to compete with what Ford basically brought out almost 10 years ago and it took Ford and Ram nearly 15 years to come up with an engine and transmission that would compete with the Duramax/Allison.
My opinion RAM has always had the best engine. 07.5 when they came out with the 68RFE that left the bad transmission problem behind them.
Now RAM has the best engine and transmission with the Aisin now.
In these initial tests they will all vary in performance. If someone wants a truck for the long haul they most likely buy the RAM/Aisin.
So the fan is louder than the other two when pulling a grade who cares it's pulling a lot of air thru the two radiators.
I would bet if you took a vote among the guys test driving all the trucks they would have picked the RAM.
Yes I will agree that they all are very close in performance.
The guys did take a vote and they picked the GM truck. - Cummins12V98Explorer III

"At the end of our empirical tests, the Ram HD was within 100 points of the GMC; however, after our experts weighed in with their favorite features and pickup characteristics, the Ram was even closer"
That tells me what the drivers thought not just the numbers.
That was my point. Even though the Ram was over 100 points behind the GM and Ford in the quantitative testing they liked the intangibles of the Ram enough to push them to second due to subjective results. Meaning in this race the beauty is in the eye of the beholder as the actual measurable results are relatively close. - 4x4ordExplorer IIISo we all agree that the three are now pretty close to equal. I've been doing my comparisons of the Class 5's from Ford and Ram. Although the trucks are neck and neck for what I want, I'm really struggling finding a Ram dealer in western WA that wants to work for a sale - They keep playing games instead of sending me the specifications and pricing for 2015 models. When I got to work today I checked to see if we had received a vehicle since your original request that would be a good fit for you. I also checked to see what new incentives were available for you. I found both! If you have a moment for a call I can go over them with you quickly.
Would a call sometime today work for you or would you prefer I send the information by email?
I replied to him he still hasn't sent me the 2015 information I requested a month ago and most of the responses I get through email look like automated responses with no substance or relevance to my queries.

Believe the Ford was King Ranch version. And, even with that, the testers preferred the interiors of the GMC and the Ram.
Lots of winning tidbits for all three vehicles actually. I think they did a pretty fair job with all three vehicles.
The King Ranch is kind of a love it or hate it interior. I like the looks but much prefer the feel of the lariat. At least a couple years ago when I was looking. The Lariat seats just feel better. When it comes down to aesthetics we all have our preferences. In the case of these few drivers they preferred the Ram interior more. What this test proved is get the truck that has the looks you want as the performance difference is negligible. - Ric_FlairExplorer

Personally... I think this discussion proves what we all already know. Most people, with a few exceptions, drive what they like. The only Ford I've ever owned was an old Econoline van. Ford's are just not my thing. I don't like the way the new trucks look and their noisier than they have to be.
I had a 94' 1500 Dodge Ram. Bought it because (1) the GM dealer PO'ed me the day I went to buy a new truck and I liked the new Dodge body style. But it had a HUGE blind spot on the passenger side windshield post, it never rode as good as my GM trucks, and the transmission went out of it at less than 10k miles. On the new ones, the tow mirrors coming at you remind me of Bullwinkle moose. And Rams are also noisier than they have to be.
Other than those things, I wouldn't be afraid to hook up with anyone of them and do what this test did. Performance wise, there's not a nickel's difference between the three. The rest of it, IMHO, is brand loyalty and personal preference.
If you have actually came close to a new Ford that was running you likely assumed it was shut off. They are extremely quiet. While both cruising and under full acceleration the Ford interior is quieter than a Lexus sedan.
Will agree that Ford and Chevy are quieter than the Cummins...as far as cruising, whether towing or empty...the cab is VERU quite in the Ram....can't compare the quietness of a Ram to the interior of a Lexus sedan...that's probably a stretch, but the Cummins is still very quiet or I wouldn't own one. That's was just one reason I never cared for them before 2010...
My truck is a 1 ton crew cab, long bed, 4X4 dually....I have certain expectations as to how it's going to drive, empty and while towing and, in my opinion, it does a very good job, or again, if it didn't, I wouldn't own one:) - BedlamModeratorI've been doing my comparisons of the Class 5's from Ford and Ram.
