With the 8-speed it's even better! We have several in the family, and have done side-by-side mileage comparisons across the Mojave Desert, to see how they compare (6.2 / 6-speed vs 6.2 / 8-speed). Not towing, but with 300-400 lbs of cargo & 2 passengers, the 6.2 / 8-speed can get 22 MPG over a 300-mile trip going 70-75 MPH. This includes some small-medium grades on I-40. On the same run, the 6.2 with the 6-speed was getting 19.5 MPG.
We saw similar improvements with the 8-speed when towing 7,000 lb boats with each, but I forget the exact MPG - it was last summer.
Note: that's hand-calculated, not depending on the trip computer.
