I not my intent to be mean or rude, but I really have never understood why people buy a short bed truck without a specific reason. Typically, they discover it is very limited. Makes no difference if it is a Ford, GM or Ram. Makes no difference if it is gas or diesel. I really think they only see a paint job, maybe looks cute, or it is more affordable. I sure hope it is not because they do not have confidence in driving a 8-foot bed truck. For me, when I make a major purchase costing thousands of dollars, I think it through. It is no time for impulse decisions. I do understand there are many reasons to have a short bed, but if you cannot deal with another 18-inches of length, maybe you should buy a midsize or mini truck.
I apologize if this post offends anyone, that is not my intent.

Not offensive at all, it's just your opinion. Kind of like why some insist that a cap is a necessity while others like myself find them very limiting. I sold the cap that came with mine BTW. ;)
The truck in my sig is my first PU. I've always owned SUVs like Suburbans. I wonder now, why I didn't try a PU many years ago? That said it's a short bed and for my needs I see no reason to have anything longer. It has nothing to do with "lacking confidence". It's just my wife and I, I'm not a contractor, rarely have a need to haul anything bigger than a yard of dirt or a couple of 4x8 sheets of what ever (what's the difference if they rest on the tailgate for a couple of miles?), and don't intend on having any trailer larger than what I have now. What I have suits my needs well. Why should I spend more money on something I have no real need for?
A mid size or mini truck would not come close to suiting my needs. Isn't it great that we have so many options to choose from?
