2015 ford 6.7 Turbo

I was doing some Saturday afternoon reading and came across an article that was talking about the improvements they made for the 6.7... Larger Turbo... Improved fuel pump and injectors.. And improved engine exhaust braking... Manually controlled by a push button on the dash.....<<< very interesting ... Anybody hear anything about this???Joe

  • What are they replacing the CP4.2 with? GM has had far less failures and will carry over everything to the new 15' model.
  • Bigger turbo doesn't mean better. Many guys install smaller turbo's for better performance.

Thanks for the link.... I never remember to check YouTube !
  • Heard about updating stuff on this engine? Sure.

They are updating the exhaust brake because it was the weakest out of the 3 by far. They had to do something. There was also a bunch of complaints about having no switch for the exhaust brake so they had to fix that also to keep their customers happy.

Ford spec'ed the wheels on the turbo on the 6.7 really strangely. They were really hard to balance and they had a ton of failures with them so I'm sure they wanted to fix that problem.

The CP-4 gen 1 was pretty much a very fragile design. GM and Ford had quite a few failures and they continue to have failures on the old design, so again, they had to do something.

After a lot of valve failures I'm sure they are fixing that problem too.

So yes, Ford is updating the weak points of this engine.
