Pot callin kettle black...
Whether you publicly put yer hand out for "bailout cash" or sneaked in the back door (Ford) to grab tax payer money... its still takin money to stay alive... Can't figure out why... "blue cool-aid drinkers" pathologically deny Ford ever took government money, be it a bail out or back door deals.(ask the union works at ford if FMC ever put the money they took from the pension fund back into the workers pension fund?) They still took public/taxpayer dollars to keep their heads above the bankruptcy waters, like so many other American "great" companies....and foreign.
Dirty Oil, show me where I have ever said Ford never took government money. In our semi-socialist condition, a lot of going enterprises take government money for one thing or another, such as for such government-encouraged electric car research and etc and etc.
But it was Government Motors and Chrysler (twice) that were going belly-up without the taxpayer help. In fact, Chrysler was SAVED TWICE by US government bailouts and subsequently bought up by foreign firms, first Mercedes (who chewed them up and spit them out) and currently, by Fiat. We'll see how that goes.
And GM, well, they effectively robbed billions from their first mortgage bond holders along with just about every other stakeholder investing in or doing business with them, and to add insult to injury, those same folks had to contribute to GM's survival by supplying the tax dollars to keep them from disappearing completely.
And with this latest GM problem concerning their faulty ignition switches, they face great liabilities. In fact, Toyota was just fined a billion dollars by the US for a similar type of covered-up safety violations. GM hid the dangerous ignitions for over 10 years and continued producing them despite knowing they were endangering their customers and the general public. But I doubt the US Justice Department will push for such heavy fines against GM, because GM already owes the US billions from the bankruptcy save, which probably will never be paid off. We'd probably just have to give them another billion to pay the fine.
So, let the Bankruptcy Boys bunch up and attack the truth again. I've got my popcorn ready, but won't be providing any more information in this thread for them since it's a hopeless enterprise.
